The Pacific and the Atlantic
The beginning of the end
But your light faded
Once your heart was torn wide open
Disrespected by the ungrateful
Your foundation shaken
Trampled upon
Toying with your weaknesses and insecurities
Draining you of your vitality
Stripping your self-confidence
Withering away your humanity
Compromising you of your identity
To the point where you’ve become
Unrecognizable to anyone
Not even yourself
Once independent and strong-willed
Now just bruised and fragile
Wounded in your Achilles heel
But don’t play the martyr
And don’t appear weak
Face the oppressor
Regroup your roots
With the grace of God
And the fall of rain
Flowers will flourish
Birds will hum
And life will proceed for you once again
Streams of peace, love and laughter
Will begin to flow through your veins
Allowing you to change for the better
Instead of remaining bitter
Giving you a newfound
Sense of freedom
You will pull through this depression
Survive this recession
And prove that you’re still woman
